53 people died due to 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Tibet, tremors felt in Nepal also

At least 53 people were killed and 62 injured when a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Tibetan city of Shigaze on Tuesday. Earthquake tremors were also felt in Nepal, due to which people came out of their homes.

According to the regional disaster relief headquarters, the earthquake struck Dingri County in Shigaze, China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, at 9:05 a.m. (Beijing time) on Tuesday.

According to government news agency Xinhua, as of Tuesday afternoon, 53 people have been confirmed dead and 62 others are injured.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Indian National Seismological Center rated the earthquake’s magnitude as 7.1 and said its epicenter was at Shizhang in China’s Tingri County, 90 kilometers northeast of Lobutse in the Khumbu Himalayan range in northeastern Nepal. Is.

However, China recorded the earthquake’s magnitude at 6.8. According to the report released by the China Earthquake Network Center, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to state news agency Xinhua.

Meanwhile, a powerful earthquake in Kathmandu, Nepal forced people to come out of their homes. The impact of the earthquake was also felt in Kavrepalanchwok, Sindhupalanchok Dhading and Solukhumbu districts.
