Arlington: There was a deadly aircraft accident in the US in which 67 people died. The bodies of 55 dead have been recovered so far after the accident. Officials have given information about this. The accident occurred on Wednesday over the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport. The plane accident is one of the most deadly aerial accidents ever since 2001 in the US.

Divers are searching

Washington DC’s fire fighting and emergency medical service (EMS) chief John Donley has said that the divers are still looking for the bodies of 12 people killed in the accident. Rescuers are preparing to lift debris from the Potomac River by Monday morning. Some of the remaining parts of the aircraft will be filled in a truck and ‘Hangar’ (place to keep the aircraft) for examination.

People paid tribute

Meanwhile, the families of the victims also reached the spot on the banks of the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport and paid tribute to their loved ones. Many people reached the place through buses where American Airlines aircraft and army black Hawk helicopter collided. During this time the police also stayed with the people.

Officers are investigating the cause of the accident, while the rescue team is busy with the debris. Transport Secretary Sean Dafi raised many questions about the incident. He asked during an event on ‘CNN’, “What was happening inside the tower? Did there lack of employees? Was Black Hawk’s pilot wearing ‘Night Vision Goggles’?’ (AP)
