Ukrainian army occupies 100 Russian buildings
The head of the Ukrainian forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Sirsky, said his troops had advanced two kilometres into Kursk, expanding their occupation of Russian territory.
In this way, about 1,300 square kilometers of Russian territory has come under the occupation of Ukraine. In the latest action, about 100 Russian buildings have come under the occupation of the Ukrainian army.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky has sought long-range weapons and air defense systems from allies to recapture more Russian territory and protect the Ukrainian people.
While the allied European Union countries have announced that they will soon begin training Ukrainian soldiers to use new weapons and learn combat skills. It has been said that this training will not take place in Ukraine but in a friendly country close to it.
Ukraine has called on Mongolia to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is scheduled to visit Mongolia on September 3.
Ukraine has said that the International Court of Justice has issued a warrant against Putin for war crimes and illegally taking hundreds of Ukrainian children to Russia, so Mongolia should arrest him. In response, Russia has said that it has no concerns about Putin’s visit.
Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Lloyd J Austin III reaffirmed the country’s dedication to supporting Ukraine and said Kiev’s resilience would help overcome Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aggression and atrocities.
Austin’s remarks came as he met with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Umerov at the Pentagon today. Austin also condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine’s critical civilian infrastructure earlier this week and said the US will continue to lead allies and partners in providing critical capabilities to help Ukraine defend itself, a Pentagon press release said.
