Syrian-based President Bashar al-Assad’s loyalty between loyalists and security forces continued for two days and then the death toll in retaliation violence has increased to more than 1,000, including about 750 common citizens. The human rights organization gave this information on Saturday.
It is one of the deadliest incidents of violence since the struggle started in Syria 14 years ago.
UK’s human rights organization ‘Syrian Observatory for Human Rights’ said that apart from 745 citizens, 125 members of government security forces and 148 extremists of armed groups affiliated to the disabled President Bashar al-Assad were also killed.
The human rights organization also stated that electricity and drinking water supply has been disrupted in large areas around the coastal city of Latakia and many bakery have been closed.
The clash, which began on Thursday three months after the rebels captured the power by overthrowing Asad in Syria, have emerged as a major challenge for the new government of Damascus.
The government said that they are taking action against the attacks carried out by Assad’s supporters. He blamed “actions taken by different persons” for this large-scale violence.
Recent clashes in Syria began when security forces tried to detain a wanted person near the coastal city of Jableh on Thursday. During this, Asad’s loyalists ambushed him and attacked him.
Luts of Syrian’s new government, Sunni Muslim gunmen started killing of people from the minority Alavi community of Assad on Friday, after which clashes between the two have been going on. But this is a major setback for Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, as rebel groups under the leadership of this faction coupled the rule of Asad.
Residents of Alavi villages and towns told the news agency ‘Associated Press’ that gunmen shot most of the men of the Alavi community on the streets or at the door of their houses.
Residents of Baniyas, one of the most affected towns of violence, said that the bodies were scattered on the streets or were lying on the roofs of houses and buildings and there was no one to be buried by picking them up.
