Nine people were killed and 26 others were injured when a fierce explosion at a cracker factory in Central China.
Official media said on Tuesday that the explosion occurred on Monday at Lanti County, Hunan province.
The video on the government media platform showed a fierce explosion after a dense smoke raised from the factory site. The explosion caused heavy damage to the surrounding buildings, where people were seen running to hide to escape the falling debris.
According to government news agency Xinhua, the search and rescue operations are currently on and an investigation team has been formed to find out the cause of the accident.
China’s Emergency Management Ministry said on Tuesday that it had sent a team to guide the rescue efforts at the scene.
The Ministry has urged the concerned authorities to quickly identify all the persons affected by the blast and ensure that no other accidents happen.
It said that efforts should be made to detect the cause of the explosion at the earliest and to hold the responsible people for it.
