Ottawa: A high speed car crushed people involved in the crowd during a celebration in Vancouver city of Canada. 9 people have died and dozens of people have been injured in this accident. Local police said the incident took place at 8 pm (local time). The incident occurred when a large number of people from the Filipino community gathered to celebrate Lapu Lapu Day in the city’s Sunset on Fraser. Police have taken the car driver into custody.

Attack or accident?

The Vancouver police said, “Many people died and many others were injured after the car driver crushed the crowd at a road festival in the 41st Avenue and Fraser. The driver is in custody. We will give more information during the investigation.” The police have not yet confirmed whether it was a car attack or an accident.

What did eyewitnesses tell?

Eyewitnesses told the local media that a black SUV entered the festival at a fast pace and crushed the crowd and hit many people. He said that the driver of the car was a young Asian man, and looked mentally deranged. Many videos of this horrific incident have appeared on social media, in which the bodies are seen lying on the road after the car attack.

What is Lapu Lapu Festival
