Palm Springs (America): One person was killed and four people were injured in a powerful bomb blast outside a clinic on Saturday in the city of Palm Springs in California. The Federal Investigation Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has described the incident as “deliberate terrorist act”.
Akil Davis, head of the Los Angeles Office of the FBI, informed the press that the clinic located at the scene was deliberately targeted. However, he refused to explain why the authorities considered it a terrorist attack and what is its basis.
Fear of car bomb blast
Davis said that the identity of the deceased has not been made public yet and it is not clear whether the same person was the attacker or not. Two law enforcement officials related to the case said on the condition of anonymity that the incident is being investigated as a possible car bomb blast. An official told the ‘Associated Press’ that investigators are assuming that the person killed was probably the same, who exploded, but the investigation is still in the initial stage.
Local administration response
Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills termed the incident as “deliberate violence”, saying it seems to be a planned attack. According to the city administration, the blast occurred at 11 am on Saturday morning, near the North Indian Canian Drive. People were advised to stay away from the area with immediate effect.

The clinic that was targeted is ‘American reproductive centers’ that provides reproductive treatment. Dr. Maher Abdallah, the director of the clinic, confirmed that the clinic was damaged in the blast. However, he spoke of relief that all the employees are safe. (AP)
