The swearing-in ceremony of US President Donald Trump was watched by an estimated 24.6 million viewers on television.
In America, the tenure of the President is of four years and Trump has taken charge as President for the second time.
The Nielsen company said on Tuesday that this number of viewers was less than the audience for former President Joe Biden’s 2021 swearing-in ceremony. Biden’s swearing-in ceremony was watched by 3.38 crore people, whereas the swearing-in ceremony of Trump’s previous term in 2017 was watched by 3.6 crore viewers.
The number of spectators at the swearing-in ceremony has declined significantly in the last 50 years. In 1981, when Ronald Reagan took office, this number was 41.8 million and in 2004, during George W Bush’s second term, the swearing-in ceremony was watched by 15.5 million people.
