Islamabad: Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will leave for China on Monday, where he will hold important bilateral talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Along with this, Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Mottaki will also reach China on 20 May to attend this tripartite meeting. This will be Dar’s first visit to China after India’s Operation Sindoor in Pakistan.

According to a report by Pakistani Broadcasive Geo News, the trilateral meeting will focus on regional trade, recent developments and recent military tension strategies in the light of recent military tension between India-Pakistan.

Background of Indo-Pak struggle

The backdrop of this high -level diplomatic meeting is the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan on 10 May. Earlier, there were mutual drones and missile attacks between the two countries for four days. India carried out accurate attacks on terrorist bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, in which more than 100 terrorists died.

After this, Pakistan tried to target Indian military bases from 8 to 10 May, causing tension in the area to reach the peak. The two countries eventually agreed to stop the conflict, which China welcomed as “in the long -term and fundamental interests of the two countries”.

Main issues of meeting

New initiatives will be considered towards promoting trans-authent connectivity between China, Pakistan and Afghanistan. There is a possibility of tripartite discussion, especially on the threats arising from the border and the instability of Afghanistan. Shared strategies can also be considered to maintain regional peace amidst India-Pakistan tension. (PTI)
