Hamas released 2 Israeli hostages.
Rafah (Gaza Patti): Under the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, 5 of the six Israeli hostages have been handed over to the Red Cross on Saturday. In two separate ceremonies in Gaza, the five were brought to the Red Cross in front of hundreds of Palestinians by masked, armed Hamas fighters. In the central city Nucerat, three Israeli youth Omar Venkart, Omar Shem Tove, were placed in red cross vehicles that left for Israel.
Earlier, two other hostages were released in the southern Gaza city of Rafa in the day. Two bonds Tal Shoham (40) and Avera Mengistu (39) brought masked and armed Hamas fighters on stage and then placed them in an ambulance of Red Cross. The ambulance then moved towards a nearest crossing in Israel. The sixth hostage, Hishham al-Said (36) is also to be released on Saturday.
The release of hostages and prisoners between Israel and Hamas is taking place at a time when the extreme sects of Hamas handed over someone else’s body instead of Shiri Bibas, the mother of two young children abducted and Palestine is upset about it. Hamas had assigned the body of the woman with the bodies of two sons, was of a woman from Palestine, not of Shiri Bibas, the mother of the children.
Netanyahu has threatened Hamas
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it a “cruel and malicious violation” of the agreement and pledged to take revenge, while Hamas said it was a mistake. Six hostages being released on Saturday are the last living person to be released under the first phase of the ceasefire. Ethiopian-Israeli Mengistu was arrested in Gaza in 2014. Mengistu’s family sang songs on release. Shoham of North Israeli village Male Tzwia went to Kibutz Beri to meet his wife’s family when Hamas’s extremists attacked there on 7 October 2023. (AP)
