Lahore: 145 Pakistani citizens returned from the Attari-Wagh International border today, while 275 Indians returned from Pakistan. After the Pahalgam terror attack, India and Pakistan had canceled the visas of citizens of each other countries and asked them to leave the country in 48 hours. The government has directed 12 types of short-term visa holders to leave India. The deadline for medical visas is till 29 April. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has instructed all the Chief Ministers that no Pakistani citizen should stay in India after the scheduled deadline.
Long -term visas have difficulties in returning home
More than 1,000 Indians have returned to their homes from Pakistan via border in the last six days. He had to stop his trips in the middle due to the cancellation of the visa after the Pahalgam terror attack. A government official said, “More than 1,000 Indians have returned to their homes from Pakistan via the Wagah border in the last six days. Similarly, more than 800 Pakistanis have returned home till Monday.” He said that those with long -term visas of both countries are facing difficulties in returning home.

Pakistan Rangers and India’s Border Security Force conducted a thorough investigation of the papers of citizens sent indigenously before allowing immigration to the Wagah border. So far, the information has come back from the Attari-Wagha border to Pakistan and the people who came back to India from there have come to light. This data is from April 24, after the Ultimatum given by the Government of India to the Pakistan citizens and the Government of Pakistan to return to their country.

Action after Pahalgam attack
Militants opened fire in Pahalgam in Kashmir on 22 April, killing 26 people, which was the deadliest attack in the valley after the Pulwama attack in 2019. The Cabinet Committee of Security Affairs in New Delhi (CCS) on Wednesday decided to close the integrated check post in Attari with immediate effect. The Attari-Wagah border is located near Amritsar in India and Lahore in Pakistan.
