America: FBI arrested terrorist involved in attacks in Punjab

The Federal Investigation Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Enforcement and Abuse Operations (ERO) arrested Harpreet Singh, a terrorist involved in attacks in Punjab, in the US on Friday.

The FBI said that Harpreet Singh is associated with two international terrorist groups and illegally entered the US. According to the FBI, he used a burner phone to avoid being caught.

In a post shared on X, FBI Sacramento said, “Today, an alleged terrorist Harpreet Singh, responsible for the terrorist attacks in Punjab, was arrested by the FBI and ERO by the FBI and ERO.

On March 23, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a charge sheet against four terrorist operatives of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist organization in the 2024 Chandigarh Grenade attack case. The accused involved in the charge sheet include Pakistan -based individual terrorist Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda and US -based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Pasia.

Both of them were the main operators and conspirators behind the terrorist attack. He had provided logistics aid, terrorist money, weapons and ammunition to the grassroots workers based in Chandigarh to carry out the grenade attack. The objective of the September 2024 attack was to target a retired officer of Punjab Police, who believed that he was a resident of the house.

The investigation revealed that Rinda, along with Happy Pasia, hatched a conspiracy to spread terror among the law enforcement officers and the general public. The grenade attack was carried out under a comprehensive objective of promoting BKI terrorist agenda. He recruited local operatives called Rohan Christ and Vishal Christ, who were tasked to attack under his direct instructions.

Rinda and Happy directed the accused Rohan Christ and Vishal Christ, who took the target twice before throwing the grenade.

The charge sheet filed in the special NIA court in Chandigarh has been charged under several sections of the RC 15/2024/NIA/DLI case under several sections of the illegal activities (prevention) act (UAPA), Explosives Act and other related provisions for their role in planning and supporting the four accused. The investigation of the case is going on and the NIA is trying to explore other members of the BKI terrorist group and end its network in India.
