America is with India in the fight against terrorism: US Deputy Foreign Minister

US Deputy Foreign Minister Christopher Landau told the all -party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor that the US stands firmly with India in the fight against terrorism.

The delegation has come to the US to make India aware of the India’s stance on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.

The Indian delegation met Landau here on Friday. The delegation informed the major negotiaters about Operation Sindoor. After the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, the terrorist structure in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir was targeted under this operation. 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam attack.

The Indian Embassy said on the social media forum ‘X’, “Dr. The all -party parliamentary delegation led by Shashi Tharoor had a good and clear conversation with the US Deputy Foreign Minister Landau. The Indian delegation informed him about the cruelty of the Pahalgam terror attack and ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Landau said through a ‘post’ on ‘X’ that the meeting with Indian parliamentary representatives was “great”.

He said, “I again confirmed that America stands firmly with India in the fight against terrorism. We discussed the US-India strategic relations, including expanding trade and commercial relations to promote development and prosperity in both countries. ”

A statement issued by Foreign Ministry spokesman Tami Bruce said that Landau “confirmed the strong support of the US for India in the fight against terrorism and in strategic partnership between the two countries.”

According to the statement, the delegation discussed the importance of advancing bilateral relations in major areas, including expanding trade and commercial relations to promote economic growth and prosperity in the two countries.

The embassy said in a statement that during a meeting with Landau, the delegation gave him information about the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, then discussed India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ run and put forward India’s determination to combat all forms of terrorism across the border.

He said, “The Deputy Foreign Minister confirmed the strong support of America for India in the fight against terrorism. The two sides also held extensive conversations on the importance of strengthening bilateral relations by furthering cooperation in areas of mutual interests. ”

The delegation also interacted with Senate Foreign Affairs Committee member Senator Chris Van Hollen and informed him about the threat of terrorism arising from Pakistan which has affected both India and America.

The Senator expressed sympathy for the victims of repeated terrorist attacks in India, saying that the US stands with India in the fight against terrorism and expressed support for New Delhi’s right to self-defense.

Tharoor also spoke to the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee member Senator Corey Booker on the phone and described the conversation as “warm and meaningful”.

The Tharoor -led delegation included Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), Ganti Harish Madhur Balayogi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi (Bharatiya Janata Party), Bhuvneshwar Kalita (Bharatiya Janata Party), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena), Tejashwi Surya (Bharatiya Janata Party) and former India’s Taranjit Sandhu in America.
