New York: On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution, the New York State Senate has formally passed a resolution for the first time, taking a historic step. The proposal was presented by Indian origin New York State Senator Jeremy Kuni, who is currently the only Indian origin to serve the Senate. The proposal was adopted at a special ceremony held on Wednesday. On this occasion, Consul General Binay Pradhan of India in New York and prominent members of the Indian-American community were present.
Senator Kuni made this statement
“I am presenting this historical proposal in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution of India. It is a celebration of India’s independence and a tribute to the brave citizens who sacrificed their lives for the good of their countrymen.” This proposal has been submitted and passed by a legislative body of America for the first time in honor of the Indian Constitution. Earlier, many resolutions have been passed on the occasion of India’s independence, Republic Day and various festivals, but this is the first initiative on the Indian Constitution.
Indian Embassy in New York made special post
After the passage of this proposal, the Indian Embassy in New York posted a post and wrote, “The 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution! The New York State Senate adopted the proposal submitted by Senator Jeremy Kuni. This proposal is a celebration of shared democratic values - freedom, justice and equality -“. Several Indian-American community members were present at the ceremony along with Binay Pradhan. This opportunity reflects deep democratic, cultural and social relations between the US and India.
