Amid the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the US has said that it will not be involved in a war that has “basically no connection”.
US Vice President JD Vance said in a TV interview on Thursday that the US cannot control India and Pakistan but he may appeal to both the nuclear-enacted neighbors to reduce tension.
Asked how concerned about the administration of US President Donald Trump over a possible nuclear war between India and Pakistan, Vance said, “Look, we are worried about the fact that nuclear powers do not collide and do not have any big struggle.”
Vance quoted US President Donald Trump and External Affairs Minister Marco Rubio as saying that Washington wants stress to “reduce” as soon as possible.
The Vice President said, “We cannot control these countries. India has some complaints from Pakistan. Pakistan has responded to India. We can appeal to these people to try to reduce stress something but we are not going to fall in the middle of the war. We really have nothing to do with this. ”
He said, “America cannot ask Indians to insert arms. We cannot ask Pakistanis to lay down arms. Therefore, we will continue to take this matter forward through diplomatic mediums. We hope and expect that it does not turn into any broad regional war or God, it should not turn into any nuclear struggle, but we are definitely concerned about these things.
Vance said, “I think you have to work with diplomacy and calm mind, so that it does not become a nuclear war.” If this happens, it will definitely be destructive. Right now we don’t think this is going to happen. ”
Vance, his wife Usha Vance and his three children were on their first official visit to India, on 22 April, 26 people were killed by militants in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, most of whom were tourists.
Two weeks after the attack, India started ‘Operation Sindoor’ on Tuesday night, targeting the terrorist structure in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir.
India thwarted efforts to attack Pakistan with missiles and drones at military establishments in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur and some other places on Thursday night. With this, the possibility of the widespread military conflict between the two countries has become stronger.
After the Indian Army thwarted Pakistan’s efforts, the Ministry of Defense said that India “are fully prepared to protect their sovereignty and protect their people.”
