Important meeting of Quad countries held in America

Washington: The first meeting of Quad Foreign Ministers has taken place after the swearing in of Donald Trump in America. New US Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Australia’s Penny Wong and Japan’s Iwaya Takeshi for their meeting. In this meeting, a strong message has been given to China through gestures. The Quad countries issued a joint statement opposing any action trying to change the status quo. This meeting of Quad Foreign Ministers lasted for about an hour, in which it was also confirmed that the Quad Leadership Summit will be organized in India later this year.

Warned without naming China

The Quad countries said in a joint statement, “We four countries firmly believe that international law, economic opportunity, peace, stability and security in all areas, including the maritime domain, reflects the development and prosperity of the peoples of the Indo-Pacific. We also strongly oppose any unilateral action that seeks to change the status quo by force or coercion.” “We are committed to promoting reliable chains while strengthening regional maritime, economic and technological security despite growing threats,” the statement said.

Quad countries will work fast

“We look forward to accelerating the work of the Quad in the coming months. We will meet together on a regular basis to prepare for the next Quad Leaders’ Summit hosted by India,” the joint statement said. The statement said the Quad ministers reiterated their shared commitment to strengthening a ‘free and open Indo-Pacific’ where the rule of law, democratic values, sovereignty and territorial integrity are upheld and defended.

What did Jaishankar say after the meeting?

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said about the meeting in a post on X that he participated in the productive meeting of Quad Foreign Ministers in Washington DC. He thanked US Secretary of State Marco Rubio for hosting and Foreign Ministers Wong and Takashi for participating. He said, “It is significant that the meeting of Quad Foreign Ministers took place within a few hours of the beginning of the Trump administration. This shows the priority in the foreign policy of its member countries.”

These countries are included in Quad

Let us tell you that Quad is a group of Australia, India, Japan and America. Quad was an initiative of the Trump administration in its first term. The Biden administration has also worked on this and elevated it to the leadership level.
