Islamabad: A Hindu minister has been attacked in Sindh province of Pakistan. According to the information, the attack has been carried out by the protesters who took out a rally against the plan of new canals on a Hindu Minister of State. The attack occurred when Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MP and Minister of State for Religious Affairs Kheel Das Kohstani was passing through Thaatta district on Saturday. Suddenly the protesters started throwing tomatoes and potatoes on their convoy and raised slogans against the federal government.
Pakistan officials said that there was no harm to Kohistani in the attack. Radio Pakistan reported that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif called Kohistani and assured a thorough investigation into the incident. The Prime Minister said, “The attack on public representatives is unacceptable. The people involved in the incident will be punished severely.” Information Minister Ata Tarar has sought the details of the incident from Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon and a report from the federal home secretary.
Sindh Chief Minister also condemned
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also strongly condemned the act. He directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police of Hyderabad region to immediately arrest the persons involved in the attack and submit the report. According to personal information on the National Assembly website, Kohistani belongs to Jamshoro district of Sindh and was elected a member of Parliament for the first time from PML-N in 2018. After completing the five -year term, he was again elected in 2024 and was made Minister of State. (Language)
