Ukraine President Volodimir Jailonsky said on Friday that a Russian drone equipped with high explosives attacked the outer protective cover of the Charnobyl nuclear power plant at Kieve at night.
Jailnsky and the United Nations Atomic Agency said that however, the attack has not increased the level of radiation. At the same time, Russian government spokesperson Dimitri Peskov rejected Ukraine’s claims on Friday.
Peskov said in a conversation with reporters, “There is no such claim as nuclear infrastructure, attacking nuclear power establishment, no such claim is true. Our army does not do this. ”
He said that Ukrainian officials claimed the attack because they wanted to thwart efforts to end the war through dialogue. In fact, US President Donald Trump has asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to signed a peace agreement.
Peskov said, “It is clear that there are people (in the Ukrainian government) who will continue to oppose any effort of the conversation process and it is also clear that they will make every effort to derail this process. . ”
On the other hand, the United Nations Atomic Energy Agency blamed anyone for the attack, although his team stationed at the scene heard the sound of the blast and was told that a drone had dropped the bomb.
The President of Ukraine said that the drone attack damaged the security cover and caught fire, which has been extinguished.
The attack took place two days after US President Donald Trump said that he would meet Russian President Vladimir Putin for a conversation to end the war. Trump’s statement indicates that as if Putin is important and in any peace talks, Jailonski as well as European governments can be sidelined.
The International Atomic Energy Agency said that the attack on Carnobyl was held at 1:50 pm local time. The agency said there is no sign of loss in internal armor.
IAEA chief Rafael Rossi said on ‘X’ that the recent increase in military activity near the Charnobyl attack and Japorizia nuclear plant “underlines” frequent nuclear security risks “. He said that the IAEA is completely alert.
The IAEA said, “The level of radiation inside and outside remains normal and stable.”
At the same time, Jailonsky claimed ‘Telegram’ that the charnobyl attack shows that “Putin is not ready for talks”.
