Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus has met. Yunus, who was on a four -day visit to China, attended the ‘Boao Forum for Asia’ annual conference on Wednesday. Yunus then reached Beijing on Thursday where Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Sun Vedong welcomed him at the airport. Yunus appealed to China to reduce the interest rate on Chinese loans and waive fees on Chinese funded projects before his meeting with Xi.
Yunus asked for support
According to various Bangladesh media reports, the ‘Boao Forum for Asia’ annual conference sought Chinese support for development projects at a meeting with Chinese Executive Deputy Prime Minister Ding Shishiang. In the meeting with Ding, Younus sought help from Beijing for the transfer of Chinese manufacturing industries including textiles, electric vehicles, light machinery, high -tech electronic, chip manufacturing and solar panel industry to their country.
China will give full support
China has expressed a desire to strengthen relations with Dhaka amidst the changing scenario of Bangladesh. “President Xi Jinping gives immense importance to your (Yunus) journey,” BSS, BSS, BSS, BSS said quoting Chinese Deputy Prime Minister. Ding said that Beijing would give full support to the Bangladesh government in terms of investment, trade and cultural relations to the Bangladesh government to mark 50 years of establishing bilateral diplomatic relations.
