Bangladesh government cancelled Sheikh Hasina’s passport

Bangladesh government canceled Sheikh Hasina’s passport: The diplomatic passport of Sheikh Hasina, who came to India after resigning from the post of Prime Minister following bloody clashes across the country against the 30 percent reservation being given to freedom fighters in Bangladesh, has now been canceled.

The Bangladeshi Home Ministry has issued a notification directing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her advisers, former cabinet members and all members of the recently dissolved national parliament to surrender their diplomatic passports.

According to news agency Xinhua, this directive issued on Thursday also applies to their family members. The notification is signed by Home Ministry’s senior information officer Faisal Hasan. It details the procedure for issuing normal passports on submission of diplomatic passports.

The instructions do not clarify what legal action will be taken against a person if he fails to submit his diplomatic passport.

Let me tell you, in Bangladesh, freedom fighters (Freedom FightersThe students had started the protest from July 1 against the reservation being given to the relatives of freedom fighters in all the government jobs in the country. On June 5, the Dhaka High Court had ordered to re-implement the reservation for the relatives of freedom fighters.

In Bangladesh, 30 per cent of jobs are reserved for children and grandchildren of heroes of the 1971 independence war, 10 per cent for people from administrative districts, 10 per cent for women, 5 per cent for ethnic minority groups and 1 per cent for the disabled.

Apart from this, under the reservation system in Bangladesh, there is already a provision for reservation in government jobs for women, disabled and ethnic minority people. This reservation system was suspended by the Supreme Court there in 2018. After this suspension, such protests stopped across the country.

After this, the mob in Bangladesh resorted to arson and vandalism in the capital and its surrounding areas to press for their demands, in which hundreds of people were confirmed dead. Apart from this, the statue of Sheikh Mujiburahman installed in the capital was also vandalised.
