Responses of Hindus in Bangladesh
New Delhi: The Government of India said on Friday that 152 incidents of death of 23 Hindus and attacks on Hindu temples have come to light in Bangladesh since August. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh also said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha that “76 incidents of attacks against Hindus have taken place in Bangladesh during the last two months (26 November 2024 to 25 January 2025).
Government of India has paid attention
Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said that the Indian government has focused on the incidents of violence against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh and shared its concerns with the Bangladesh government. He also informed that on December 9, 2024, India had clarified its stance in front of Bangladesh about the safety of Hindus and other minorities during the foreign secretary visit to Bangladesh.

Indian High Commission is keeping an eye on
The Minister of State for External Affairs said that it is the primary responsibility of the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of all citizens, especially minorities. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka is constantly monitoring this situation. On December 10, 2024, the Bangladesh government held a press conference stating that 70 people have been arrested in 88 cases related to attacks against minorities in Bangladesh.
Serious allegations against Muhammad Yunus
Meanwhile, let me tell you here that, Bangladesh’s largest minority rights group recently accused the interim government of the country of failing to protect religious and ethnic minorities from attacks and oppression. The ‘Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Ekta Parishad’ had said that the government led by Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus is also using government institutions to suppress minority groups.
