Bangladesh former beauty queen Meghna Alam
Dhaka: The Bangladesh Police has said that a former beauty queen has been detained for trying to cheat the former Saudi Arabian ambassador in Dhaka by trying to cheat US $ 50 million. At the same time, the former beauty queen dismissed the allegation and claimed that the diplomat wanted to marry her. Police said in a petition filed in a Dhaka court, “Meghna Alam, his close aide Dewan Sameer and two other people were involved in implicating foreign ambassadors in a love trap with beautiful girls.”

The police, however, did not name the Saudi diplomat or any other messenger, but said that she (woman) has been detained on charges of “obstructing the security of the country and harming the financial interests of the country”. Police spokesperson Mohammad Talebur Rahman said that the court has ordered the petition to be sent to jail. He has been accused of forcible recovery attempt through blackmail. Bengali language newspaper ‘Pratham Alo’ and other media institutions said in their news that Alam told the court that the diplomat had approached her and proposed marriage.

Government lawyer Omar Farooq Farooqui told reporters that Alam claimed in the court that Saudi diplomat had proposed to tie him in marriage and called him repeatedly and sent messages, while he never took the initiative. Alam appeared during the court hearing on Thursday without any lawyer and made her own arguments and urged to cancel her arrest. At the same time, Alam’s father Badrul Alam had earlier told reporters that the ambassador wanted to marry his daughter, but he rejected the proposal because the ambassador is married and his wife and children.
Saudi Embassy did not comment
