Dhaka/New Delhi: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has increased a lot of difficulties. The interim government led by Mohammad Yunus has banned former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party Awami League on Saturday evening. This action has been taken under the anti -terrorism law. The move is considered to be a big shock for Sheikh Hasina.
Yunus’s office said, “The official Gazette notification in this regard will be released on the next working day.” The statement said that the ban would remain in force until the hearing in the International Crime Tribunal (ICT) against the Awami League and its leaders is not completed, so that the security and sovereignty of the country can be protected.
Change in law to bring Sheikh Hasina into the dock
The Yunus government also said that the decision has been taken to ensure the safety of leaders and workers of the agitation in July 2024. In addition, the decision has also been taken for the protection of complainants and witnesses prosecuted in the International Crime Tribunal.
