However, the Kremlin also says that being ready to discuss Ukraine does not mean that Moscow is willing to change its previous demands. But during his campaign, Trump criticized the scale of US military and financial aid to Kiev. He had said that if he came to power he could end the war within 24 hours. After Trump was elected President, Zelensky congratulated him. Said he doesn’t know how the Americans plan to quickly end the conflict. “If it just accelerates, it means losses for Ukraine. Putin also congratulated Trump on his victory
Even though late after Trump’s victory, Putin also congratulated him on Thursday on winning the US elections. When a gunman tried to assassinate Trump in July, Putin also praised him for showing courage against him and said that Moscow is ready for talks with Trump. He said comments Trump had made about trying to end the war were worth noting. Trump told NBC that he has not spoken to Putin since his election victory, but “I think we will talk”.
