Santiago: In the South American country Chile, there was darkness due to power failure on Tuesday, due to which the passengers got stuck in their respective places. Internet services stopped due to lack of electricity, business activities came to a standstill and daily life became completely disturbed. The government has declared an emergency situation and has implemented a compulsory night curfew for 6 am on Wednesday.

Mining activities have been suspended in Chile, the largest manufacturer of copper in the world. People are facing water problems due to the closure of electric pumps. With the help of emergency generators, hospitals and government offices could be operated.

Home Minister Carolina Toha said that the government is sending security forces to the dark roads to control traffic and curb the chaos. More than five hours after the power supply was disrupted, at least 70 lakh people did not have electricity here around 10 pm, and no power was fully restored in any of the 14 affected areas.
