A bombings occurred near a market in Pakistan’s disturbed Balochistan province, killing four people and injuring 20 others. The explosion occurred on Sunday near Jabbar Market in Balochistan’s Fort Abdullah district, causing heavy damage to the building and widespread panic.
According to the report of the Express Tribune newspaper, many shops collapsed after the explosion and several establishments caught fire.
Fort Abdullah Deputy Commissioner Riyaz Khan said that four people were killed and 20 others were injured in the blast.
He said that the market was located near the back wall of the Frontier Corps (FC) Fort. Following the explosion, firing between unknown assailants and FC personnel took place.
Law enforcement officers sealed the area and started a comprehensive search and withdrawal operations. The injured included tribal leader Haji Faizullah Khan Gabijai’s security guards and many others.
The explosion occurred at a time when four levy personnel were killed in a deadly attack by unknown armed people at a check post in the Naal area of Khujdar district a few days ago.
Balochistan has been facing unrest for nearly two decades due to allegations made by local ethnic Baloch groups and parties, exploiting the mineral wealth of the province.
