Relief and rescue teams are busy helping the victims on the spot. This information was received from a media news on Thursday. According to the news of ‘Dawn’ newspaper, at least seven people died in this boat carrying more than 200 migrants and more than 150 people were rescued, while a large number of people are missing.

Accordingly, Greek authorities called off rescue operations to find the missing people on Wednesday. These missing people include 35 Pakistanis. The report said that Pakistani officials on Tuesday confirmed the death of five people from Punjab province. It said 35 other civilians who went missing on Wednesday are feared dead. Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered cases against suspects allegedly involved in taking people from Punjab to Libya, from where they were sent to Greece on boats. The report said that so far four people have been detained in connection with the boat accident.

suspicion of human trafficking

In the backdrop of the incident, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed strict action against human trafficking and sought a report on such incidents involving Pakistani nationals last year. Sharif, while chairing a meeting to discuss the deaths of Pakistani civilians, noted that 262 Pakistani civilians had lost their lives in a similar incident in the same area last year and that action would be taken against those responsible for the tragedy. Expressed displeasure. He also directed for immediate implementation of Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) for monitoring international passengers. (Language)
