Sao Paulo: Brazil is going to host the next BRICS summit. The Brazilian government said on Saturday that the next BRICS summit will be held on July 6 and 7 in Rio de Janeiro. According to a statement issued by the Government of Brazil, Brazil will preside over the program of countries with developing economies and focus on promoting global rule reforms and increasing cooperation between ‘Global South’ countries.
This will be the first summit at Rio de Janeiro after BRICS was called dead by US President Donald Trump. In such a situation, there is a possibility of confrontation between the US and the BRICS. The BRICS was founded in 2009 by Brazil, Russia, India and China. Last year, it was also included in Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates. Saudi Arabia has also been invited to join it. Turks, Azerbaijan and Malaysia have formally applied for membership and many other countries have also shown interest in it. Brazil said that partner countries have also been invited to attend the summit and they can also participate in other meetings if there is a consensus between the members.
