London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday presented a plan to make Britain a world leader in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) with the help of billions of pounds of investment and a special ‘AI Growth Zone’. Introducing the ‘AI Opportunities Action Plan’, Starmer said he believed AI could change the lives of working people. He said it also has the potential to help reduce administrative work for teachers and improve roads by detecting potholes through cameras.
Job opportunities will increase
The move comes as three leading technology companies, Vantage Data Centre, Enscale and Kindrill, have committed to invest £14 billion to build AI infrastructure in the UK, to harness the potential of this technology and enable AI across the UK. Necessary facilities will be available to create 13,250 jobs.
AI will bring change
“AI will bring incredible change to our country,” Starmer said. From helping teachers, to helping small businesses keep their records, it has the potential to change the lives of working people. But the AI industry needs a government that is on their side, he said. One who does not let opportunities go by sitting quietly. We cannot remain idle in a world of fierce competition. We must move forward quickly and take steps to win the global competition.
Plan to make Britain a world leader
The Prime Minister said, “Our plan is to make Britain a leader in the world. This scheme will provide the necessary foundation to the industry and accelerate transformation. This means that more jobs will be created in Britain, more investment will come, more money will be in people’s pockets and public services will be transformed. The Prime Minister’s residence cum office ‘Downing Street’ said that AI is already being used in Britain. Hospitals are being made to provide “better, faster and smarter” care.

‘People will have more money in their pockets’
According to International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimates, AI can increase productivity by up to 1.5 percent per year. It is estimated that there will be an average benefit to the UK of up to £47 billion each year over a decade. Britain’s Finance Minister Rachel Reeves said, “AI is a powerful tool that will help open up new opportunities to grow our economy, make our public services more efficient and help improve standards of living.” Said, “Is this action plan the implementation of the modern industrial strategy of the government? “It means a better standard of living in every part of Britain and more money in the pockets of working people.”
Work is starting on new supercomputer
Under the plan, an ‘AI Growth Zone’ will be established in Culham, Oxfordshire in the initial phase. The intention is to increase public computing capacity twentyfold. Besides, work is also starting on a new supercomputer. A new national data library will be set up to unlock the value of public data and a dedicated AI Energy Council to understand energy demands and challenges.

Britain’s Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, Peter Kyle, said, “This government is determined to ensure that the UK is not left behind in the global race for AI.
