America’s Golden Dome.
Toronto: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has also liked America’s Golden Dome. Carney on Wednesday confirmed that his government was in talks with the US to attend the US’s proposed ‘Golden Dome’ missile defense program. This multi -level security system will expand the US missile defense capabilities to space in future. Canada also wants to include it in its missile defense system.
Explain that the program has been developed under the leadership of US President Donald Trump and its estimated cost has been stated to be US $ 175 billion. Trump says his goal is to fully implement the system by 2029, which will be the final year of his potential second term.
Canada’s priority: Security of citizens
Prime Minister Carney said, “Is it a good idea for Canada? Yes, it is necessary to take steps to protect your citizens.” He also informed that there has been a direct conversation with Trump on this issue and currently discussions are going on at the level of senior officials. Donald Trump has said that the Canadian government has approached his team and indicated that they want to join this strategic project. Trump expressed confidence that the United States and Canada together will ensure that Ottawa can make a suitable contribution to this system.
Working of ‘Golden Dome’
The ‘Golden Dome’ system aims to stop potential missile attacks in four stages.
1. To detect and destroy the target before projection. 2. Stop the missile at an early stage of flight. 3. Destroying the missile in the air itself in the middle-upright phase. 4. Stop it when the missile is about to reach the target in the final stage.
This system will use both ground and space -based abilities. Carney also emphasized that Canada might have to face possible missile threats in the near future and joining this type of system would be a prudent step of national security. He said, “We are seriously considering this, and it is raised to discuss a higher level.” (AP)
