Canada: Indiscriminate firing in pub
Toronto: Three people entered a pub located in Eastern Toronto, Canada and suddenly fired indiscriminately without warning, injuring at least 12 people. The police gave this information on Friday. Police said that they received news of many people being shot near Progress Avenue and Corporate Drive at around 10:40 pm. Assistant doctors at Toronto said that 11 adults were injured, but later police said 12 people were injured.
Warning of people to stay away from the area
Police also said that a suspect was seen running into a silver car and he is still absconding. People are being warned to stay away from the area. The police said on ‘X’ on Saturday morning that three people are suspected in the firing case and the culprits will be arrested soon.
Superintendent of Toronto Police Service Paul McIntire said that the police received several emergency calls reporting the shootout in the Piper Arms at 10:40 pm on Friday night. The McIntire said during a news conference at the scene that preliminary investigation revealed that three men entered the pub and started firing on the people present there. However, no arrests have been made so far.
Indiscriminate firing of three people
He said, “One person had something like an assault rifle, while the other two people were equipped with handguns. They entered the bar, they took out their guns and started firing indiscriminate bullets at the people sitting inside. ”He said that there were no casualties in the incident. Police reached the spot and found that 12 people were hurt. The victims were taken to local hospitals and six people were confirmed to be shot, which were not fatal.
McIntire described the victims as “very lucky”. Police said the remaining six people were hurt by broken glass. He said that the intention of the attack has not been known. Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said that he has spoken to Police Chief Myon Damekiv and has been told that the people involved in the case will be caught soon.
