Beijing: Till now you must have seen and read such news that America and its allies impose sanctions on a country. But the news that has come out now is surprising. China took a big step on Wednesday and announced sanctions on American companies selling weapons to the self-governing island Taiwan. This move of China is being considered a big blow for American arms companies. At present, no reaction has come from America in this regard.

Which companies were banned?

In fact, China claims Taiwan as its part and threatens to capture it by using force if necessary. China’s state media has given information about the announcement of sanctions quoting the Foreign Ministry, but did not say which companies have been banned.

Taiwan is waiting for weapons

Taiwan is waiting for the supply of F-16 fighter jets, Abrams tanks and many missiles from the US. There are constant threats from China to attack Taiwan. However, Taiwan’s population of 2.3 million citizens is in favor of its current status of de facto independence.

America has been supplying weapons

Despite not having formal diplomatic relations, the US has long been supplying arms to Taiwan. The US is legally bound to protect Taiwan. Along with buying arms from the US, Taiwan is also promoting its domestic arms industry. China had earlier also demanded that US companies stop cooperating with Taiwan’s armed forces.

America had banned

It should also be mentioned here that the US recently took a big action against China for supplying material to Pakistan’s missile program. The US had banned four Chinese companies and a Pakistani company including an individual for supplying material to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program under missile ban laws. (AP)
