China Military Exercises Near Taiwan
Taipei: The whole world is aware of the kind of tension between China and Taiwan. Meanwhile, on Monday, China once again conducted large-scale military exercises around Taiwan and its outlying islands. China has described this military exercise as a warning against Taiwan’s independence. China’s Defense Ministry said the drills were a response to Taiwan President Lai Ching-te’s refusal to accede to Beijing’s demands that Taiwan accept itself as part of China under Communist Party rule. Taiwan’s Defense Ministry described these exercises as a provocation and said its military was prepared to respond.
Missile Corps also took part in military exercises
Navy Senior Captain Li Xi, spokesman for China’s Eastern Theater Command, said the Navy, Air Force and Missile Corps participated in the exercises. “This is a strong warning to those who support Taiwan independence and a symbol of our determination to defend our national sovereignty,” Lee said in a statement.

China has been saying this
China says Taiwan should be reunified with mainland China, even if it means using force. China has previously said that the PLA is working on a mission to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The military is well-prepared, highly alert and will not shy away from taking resolute action to counter any separatist attempts at “Taiwan independence” and thwart foreign interference. Taiwan was a Japanese colony before being unified with China at the end of World War II.
