China Threat To Taiwan: The tension between China and Taiwan is well known. Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping has threatened Taiwan on the last day of 2024. Jinping said Taiwan’s reunification with China was “unstoppable” and he would continue his efforts. President Xi, while addressing the nation on New Year’s Eve, said that Beijing has long maintained that all of Taiwan is part of China.
‘We Chinese are one family’
“We Chinese, living on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, are one family,” President Xi said in his address broadcast on state TV. No one can ever break the bond of kinship between us.” He said, ”In a world of both change and turmoil, China, as a responsible major country, is actively promoting global governance reform. And is deepening solidarity and cooperation among the ‘Global South’.

President Xi Jinping’s address was aimed at reassuring the Chinese public about the economy, which has slowed significantly after Covid-19. The real estate sector in China has collapsed and people have lost jobs as businesses closed across the country. Xi said China’s economy has improved and is on the path of progress. He said the gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to cross the 130 trillion-yuan mark (about US$18.08 trillion) in 2024. He said that grain production has exceeded 70 crore tonnes. However, China is struggling to increase its exports of e-vehicles as the US and EU have imposed heavy tariffs on imports from it.
