Islamabad: Once again a major accident has occurred in Balochistan province of Pakistan. Two miners have died in a coal mine collapse here. This is the second such incident in the area within a week. According to the news of ‘Dawn’ newspaper, this incident took place in Khost area of Harnai district. This incident has come to light two days after the death of 11 miners due to the collapse of a coal mine in Sanjadi area near Quetta. Currently, officials are trying to rescue the bodies from the Sanjadi mine.

After the incident in Sanjadi area, cracks appeared in a mine located in the Khost coal field of Harnai district and a part of the mine collapsed. Eight miners were still in the mine when the incident occurred. Six miners were rescued soon after the mine collapse. However, two miners died and their bodies were later recovered.

Investigation orders given
The Department of Mines and Minerals has closed the mine in Khost and ordered an investigation into the incident. Labor union leaders have criticized the government for failing to enforce safety rules. He says that no officer went to the spot. In March last year, at least 12 miners were killed in an explosion at a coal mine in Harnai. (Language)
