The Congress on Sunday condemned the sabotage of a Hindu temple in California, USA and said that such acts of hatred and intolerance are completely unacceptable.
The California -based Bochasan Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) temple was damaged by some unknown individuals with anti -India frescoes. This incident is another incident of targeting the holy sites of the community in the US.
BAPS said that its Shri Swaminarayan Temple located in Chino Hills city of San Bernardino County was impure.
Pawan Kheda, head of the Congress’s Media and Publicity Department, said, “The Indian National Congress strongly condemns the sabotage at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Chino Hills, California.”
He said in his post on X, “Such acts of hatred and intolerance are completely unacceptable and they have no place in any civilized society.”
Kheda said that the Congress has upheld the principle of ‘Sarva Dharma Samabha’ seen by Mahatma Gandhi for generations and demanded action against those insulting the temple.
In a post on X, BAPS Public Affairs said, “Another temple in front of impurity, this time in Chino Hills, California, the Hindu community stands strongly against hatred. Chino Hills and in association with the community of South California, we will never let hatred root.”
It said, “Our shared humanity and faith will ensure that peace and compassion are maintained.”
