Order to Submit Documents to the President of South Korea: President Yoon Suk Yeol in South Korea (Yoon Suk Yeol) There has been turmoil since the short-term declaration of martial law on December 3.
The National Assembly has passed an impeachment motion against Yeol. Some military officers and former Defense Minister have been arrested.
Yeol is not cooperating with the police investigation. His office and residence police are not even accepting summons. The great battle of impeachment is at the doorstep of the Constitutional Court.
Order to submit minutes of cabinet meetings
The court on Wednesday ordered President Yeol to submit the martial law decree and the minutes of two cabinet meetings held before and after the declaration of martial law.
According to The Korea Times newspaper, Constitutional Court spokesperson Lee Jin told reporters that the order was sent electronically on Tuesday.
The court is collecting evidence for the impeachment trial. Yeol has been ordered to submit all the documents by next Tuesday.
It is noteworthy that cabinet meetings are at the center of controversy. The Interior Ministry has already said that details of the meetings do not exist.
Previous attempts by the court to subpoena documents related to the impeachment trial have failed. Spokesperson Lee said the Constitutional Court hearing will be open to the public and press. It will not be telecast live.
