strict police action

When the protesters tried to remove the barricades, the police resorted to lathicharge to stop them. Seeing the crowd gathered for protest becoming violent, the police also fired tear gas shells. Police say the protesters also pelted stones and blocked Gulistan Road near Bangabhaban. According to information received from Bangladeshi media, five protesters were injured in the police action, who were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Demonstrations started because of this

Actually, recently Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin had given a statement. President Shahabuddin had said that he did not have any such documents which could prove that Sheikh Hasina had resigned from the post of Prime Minister before leaving Bangladesh on August 5. After this statement of the President, now a debate has started in Bangladesh whether Sheikh Hasina is still the PM of Bangladesh constitutionally. Protests have started once again against this statement and the protesters are demanding the resignation of the President.
