Indians closed on charges of espionage in Kulbhushan Jadhav, Pakistan.
Islamabad: Pakistan has overturned in the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, a former Navy officer of India, who was sentenced to death on allegations of so -called espionage in Pakistan. The Government of Pakistan on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court of its country that Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was sentenced to death on charges of espionage, has not been given the right to appeal against his sentence due to the 2019 decision of the International Court of Court (ICJ), but was ordered to access only the counselor of India.
Pakistan said that Kulbhushan has no right to appeal against his sentence. The argument was given by the government there in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, which said during a hearing that Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was sentenced to death, was given the right to appeal, but the May 9, 2023 violence is being denied the right to appeal against the decision.
What did Pakistan say
The report said that Pakistan’s Defense Ministry advocate Khwaja Haris Ahmed informed the Supreme Court that the ICJ’s judgment addressed the issue of rights of India’s counselor access to Jadhav. He has not been given the right to appeal.
What was the matter
Please tell that Kulbhushan Jadhav was allegedly arrested from Balochistan in March 2016. Pakistan has alleged that it was an operative working for India’s external espionage agency, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) and was involved in terrorist acts in his country. In this charge, Pakistan sentenced Kulbhushan Jadhav to death the following year. India dismissed the allegations against Kulbhushan Jadhav and said that he was a former naval officer who was abducted by Pakistani operatives from the Chabahar port in Iran, where he was running his business. New Delhi also dismissed the trial against him by the courts of Pakistan as “ridiculous”. After Jadhav was sentenced to death, the central government approached the ICJ, after which the international court stayed the hanging of Jadhav in 2018.
What did ICJ say in the verdict
The ICJ prohibited the hanging of Kulbhushan Jadhav, saying that “Pakistan’s responsibility should effectively review Jadhav’s punishment and conviction at his discretion” because Jadhav’s rights have been violated under the Vienna Convention on Counselor Relations. It was also said in the order that Jadhav’s hanging should be postponed until effective means are provided to appeal against their punishment. (Don News)
