Jerusalem/Beirut: News of a devastating clash between Hezbollah and Israeli soldiers is emerging on the Lebanese border. The clash took place during flag hoisting by Israeli soldiers in a village in Lebanon. It is being told that during this time, Hezbollah launched a fierce rocket attack on Israeli soldiers, due to which they had to retreat. However, no statement has come from Israel regarding this claim of Hezbollah. But according to Reuters report, high and black smoke is visible rising into the sky at the collision site.
Let us tell you that Hezbollah has been launching rockets against Israel for the last one year parallel to the Gaza war. He went to war with Israeli troops in support of Gaza. Now Hezbollah fighters are fighting a ground conflict with IDF forces in Lebanon. This war with Israel has spread to the mountainous border of Lebanon. The Iran-backed Hezbollah group said it launched several rocket attacks on Israeli troops near the village of Labbouneh in the western part of the border area near the Mediterranean coast and managed to push them back.
Hezbollah attacked Israeli soldiers
According to Hezbollah, it attacked Israeli soldiers in the village of Maroun al-Ras. Apart from this, missile attacks were also carried out on Israeli forces moving towards the twin border villages of Mays al-Jabal and Mouhaybib. Video footage posted on social media showed three Israeli soldiers waving their country’s blue and white flag in Maroun al-Ras. For the first time in decades, it has been revealed that they have done so on Lebanese territory occupied by Israel from 1982-2000. Reuters has confirmed this location based on visible geographical features.
Rocket attack on northern Israel
Along with the war in Lebanon, Hezbollah also continued launching rocket attacks in areas of northern Israel today. Hezbollah politician Amin Sherry told reporters meeting displaced people in Beirut schools that Israeli forces had not been able to achieve their military goals and that the Israeli flag raised in the south was only for a short while. Lebanon launched rocket attacks across northern Israel on Wednesday, including Israel’s main port city of Haifa. Due to this, sirens kept ringing throughout the day. The Israeli military said about 40 projectiles were launched in a barrage in Haifa, some of which were intercepted while others fell in the area.
6 people died and 16 injured
Israeli ambulance workers said two people were killed in the attack on Kiryat Shmona near the border and at least six were injured in Haifa. Meanwhile Israel carried out several airstrikes along the border, including against targets far from the war zone. The Lebanese Health Ministry said four people were killed and 10 wounded in an attack in the town of Wardaniyeh, north of Sidon near the coast. Escalating tensions in Lebanon following a year-long war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza have raised fears of a wider Middle East conflict that could involve Iran and Israel’s superpower ally the United States.
