Earthquake in Indonesia
Jakarta: According to the meteorological, climate science and geophysics agency of Indonesia, an earthquake of 5.9 magnitude occurred in the western Ache province of Indonesia on Tuesday morning. Initially, the agency stated the intensity of the earthquake 6.2, but was later reduced to it. However, no damage has been reported from this earthquake so far. According to the agency, the tremors of earthquake were felt at 2:48 am on Tuesday at 2:48 am during Jakarta, the center of which was located 30 km below sea level 62 km south-east from Sinabang city in Simulu Regency.
Tsunami not warning
No tsunami warning was issued, as there was no possibility of large waves in the sea to rise from the earthquake. “Earthquake affected areas, especially in the Simulu Regency, have been affected the most, at the time of any serious damage or casualties,” Zopan A told the news agency Xinhua.
Explain that Indonesia is an archipelago nation, which is sensitive to earthquake due to being located on seismically active Pacific Ring of Fire. There are 127 active volcanoes in the country and due to this, there is continuous tectonic activity here.
