New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said on Tuesday that he was expecting signing a free trade agreement (FTA) with India in 60 days.
India and New Zealand announced a re -negotiation on the proposed free trade agreement on Sunday after about 10 years to promote economic relations.
The Prime Minister of New Zealand is in India on a four -day visit from March 16.
At the India-New Zealand Economic Summit of the Industry Body FICCI, Luxon said, “Let’s take this relationship forward and I expect Prime Minister Modi to sign the agreement within 60 days.”
According to business experts, the conversation may face some difficulty on the issue of giving fees concessions on agricultural products such as apples, kiwis, dairy and wine.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said, “I can tell you that in the next 10 years we can get 10 times the increase.”
He said that if the two countries work in the spirit of complementary economies, then hardly one will have to compete with each other at any point.
On being an important issue between the two countries of Dairy, New Zealand trade minister Tod McClay said, “I think we have many opportunities to increase business.”
