Pakistan has temporarily closed a major border with Afghanistan till further orders due to security threats. The officers provided this information.
A senior Pakistan security officer said on Sunday that the Ghulam Khan border has been closed after a suicide attack on Saturday in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and clashes in the province of Afghanistan.
“After the attack, prohibitory orders have been implemented in North Waziristan and Seema (Ghulam Khan) has been closed for the unspecified period,” he said.
At least 13 security personnel were killed and three others were injured in a suicide attack on Saturday in North Waziristan district.
Confirming the closure of the boundary on Sunday, Pakistani officials have not given any clarification for the move.
Farooqui said in a statement, “Pakistani authorities have instructed vehicles to use only alternative routes at the crossing.”
