Shooting at West Indian American Day parade
Five people were shot during the West Indian American Day Parade in New York City, USA. Police shared this information. This is the latest example of violence in one of the most annual celebrations of Caribbean culture. New York Police Patrol Chief John Chell said that a gunman targeted a specific group of people and opened fire on the parade route in Brooklyn at around 2.35 pm. Five people were shot in this incident. According to the information, the parade had started several hours ago. Thousands of people were enjoying it and thousands of people were dancing and marching on the city’s main road Eastern Parkway. It was expected that this program would continue like this till night.

Patrol Chief Chell said that two people were seriously injured in this firing. He said that three other injured are being treated in the hospital, where there is a possibility of their survival. He said that after carrying out this incident, the attacker fled from there. Chell said, “This was not a sudden incident. This was a deliberate act by a person towards a group of people.” He said that we had information that there was no active shooter around Eastern Parkway till the incident.
Police asked people for videos
He said an Associated Press videographer who was nearby when the shots were fired saw at least two people being treated for injuries to their hands and face. The New York Police Department said police cordoned off an area adjacent to the parade route, where they had set up crime scene markers. The parade continued and officers were seen packing items into bags. Chell said people present there have been asked to provide any video footage recorded during the police shooting. Chell said we need that video. We are working on solving this case. But a lot of work will have to be done for that.
