Judge Sonya Macnite (R) in Pennsylvania
Harrisburg: A judge in Pennsylvania shot his ex -boyfriend in the head while sleeping. The accused judge in the case has been convicted on charges of attempt to murder and serious attacks. During the court hearing, the trial judge rejected the defense request. The defense had appealed to the court to release Judge Sonya McNite. Now the case will be sentenced in this case on May 28, in which McNite can be jailed up to 60 years.
Maccite was angry with this
The case is in February 2024 and the incident of firing took place at the lover’s house. Officials said that Macnite lived there, but when their relationship was over, the person (ex-boyfriend) asked her to leave home again and again. The lawyers said during the trial that Macnite was jealous and was angry that she was asked to leave the house. In the court, Macnite’s lawyer argued that the ex -boyfriend could not recognize the shooter. The ex -boyfriend had testified that he could not see after the firing, but at that time Macnite was in the house.
Suspended in 2023
Macnite, has been an elected judge at Dofin County since 2016, was suspended in November 2023. The Judicial Conduct Board would investigate cases of misconduct against judges of Pennsylvania. The board says that Maccite has violated judicial action in the 2020 traffic case associated with her son. McCite was acquitted by his son in the case.
Husband shot dead after separation
According to the report by Penlive.com, McNite had called home to help the husband who was separated in 2019 to carry furniture. When the husband came to his house, he shot him. The prosecutors in the case did not accuse him, citing self -defense.
