Kathmandu: Most of the world’s climbers dream to conquer the top of Everest at least once. But there is a person from Nepal who has set a world record of climbing 31 times, not once or twice on Everest. Nepali Sherpa Guide Kami Rita broke her own record by climbing the world’s highest peak Mount Everest for the 31st time on Tuesday morning. 55 -year -old Kami entered the steady season at 8,849 meters high at 4 am.
‘Kami had a passion to climb the mountains from an early age’
Kami Rita was leading the Everest campaign team of the Indian Army, which was led by Lieutenant Colonel Manoj Joshi. Mingma Sherpa, chairman of Seven Summit Treks, said, ‘This achievement makes Kami Rita the record for the most often climbing the world’s highest peak. Nobody reached around his record. Kami is safe and after climbing the peak, now returning to the base camp. Campaign Director of Seven Summit Treks Chhang Dawa Sherpa said that Kami had a passion to climb the mountains from an early age.
Kami Rita has climbed many other high mountain peaks
Kami Rita started in 1992 as an assistant employee in the Everest campaign. From 1994 to 2025, he climbed 2 K 2 and one time on Mount Lhotse, 3 times on Manasalu, and 8 times on Cho OU. In the last 2 years, Kami had conquered Everest 2-2 times every season to 30. This time with the 31st climb, he further strengthened his legacy.
