Israeli army tank
Genin (West Bank): Israeli tank has entered the West Bank occupied for the first time since 2002. The development took place soon after the Israeli Defense Minister’s statement, in which he said that his forces would be present in some parts of the Palestinian region for the coming year. News agency associated Press (AP) journalists saw some tanks coming to Genin on Sunday. Genin has been a stronghold of armed conflict against Israel for a long time. The final deployment of tanks in the region was done in 2002, when Israel fought the deadly Palestinian rebellion.
Violence has increased in West Bank
The Israeli is further intensifying its action on the Palestinian region and has said that it is committed to eliminate extremism amidst the increase in attacks. On January 21, two days after the ceasefire agreement, Israel started an attack on the Northern West Bank. Violence in West Bank has increased during the Israeli-Hamas War.

Thousands of Palestinians have been displaced
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katj said that he has directed the army to be ready to stay in some urban refugee camps of West Bank till the coming year. Katj said that about 40,000 Palestinians have been displaced from three camps on the North West coast and now it has been empty. He said that the army has to be prepared to ‘stay for a long time’ in the camps and ‘do not allow the residents to return.’
Hamas had carried out terrorist attack
Katj made this comment at a time when the Israeli Palestinian region is intensifying the attack and the ceasefire that prevented the Gaza war is still persisted. Palestinian attacks from West Bank have also increased and recently exploded in three vacant buses in Israel, which the police are considering a suspected terrorist attack. More than 800 Palestinians have been killed in West Bank since the war started in Gaza with Hamas attack on Southern Israel on October 7, 2023. (AP)
