Islamabad: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts for human rights and democracy. This announcement has been made by Pakistan World Alliance (PWA) and Norwegian political party Sentrum. Pakistan World Alliance (PWA) is a advocacy group established in December 2023. This organization is associated with Norway’s political party party Centrum. Party Sentrum has confirmed this on the social media platform X (Twitter).

Was also nominated in 2019

The party Sentrum said on the X on Sunday, “We are happy to declare on behalf of the party Sentrum that former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work for human rights and democracy in Pakistan, by combining someone with the right to enroll.” In 2019 too, Imran Khan was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, when he made a significant contribution towards the establishment of peace in South Asia.

Imran Khan is in jail

According to The Express Tribune report, every year, the Norwegian Nobel Committee receives hundreds of enrollment, after which they select the winner through a long process of eight months. Khan, who is also the founder of Pakistan’s main opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been in jail since August 2023. Khan has been sentenced to 14 years in jail in cases related to misuse of power and corruption. Imran Khan was out of power after a no -confidence motion in April 2022. He has described all the allegations against him as politically motivated.
