He also received praise for his honesty and humanitarian efforts. He was given the Nobel Peace Prize for establishing peace between Israel and Egypt.

Born on October 1, 1924, Carter became President in 1977 by defeating R. Ford. During this time, he laid the foundation of America’s relations with the Middle East. His tenure as President is best remembered for the 1978 Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, which brought some stability to the Middle East. For this he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in the year 2022.

According to tradition, after the death of the US President, the American flag is flown at half mast on government buildings. This tradition is adopted from the White House to local schools. Flags flying at half mast symbolize the entire nation being in mourning. The flag will remain at half-staff until January 28, 2025 in honor of Jimmy Carter’s passing. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the flag is flown at half-staff on federal buildings, grounds and naval vessels in the United States and all its territories for 30 days after the death of a president or former president.
