Dakar (Senegal): France has finally succumbed to the Senegal government. Since the formation of the new government in Senegal, the rebellion had gained momentum over the presence of French soldiers. After this, French President Emmanuel Macron has to be pulled back. Now France has handed over the control of two military bases to the Senegal government on Friday. With this decision, it has started the process of formally abolishing its military presence from this West African country.
Explain that the step of handing over the control of military bases to Senegal was taken when Senegal President Basiru Diomaye Fay announced that all foreign soldiers in his country would return. The French Embassy in Senegal said in a statement on Friday, “The French side handed over the military bases and housing to the Senegal side on Friday, March 7, 2025, in the districts of March 2025.”
France sacked 162 Senegal personnel
The dispute between France and Senegal increased further when the French army dismissed several of its employees. France formed a joint commission with Senegal last month for the return process. The French army recently announced that it had dismissed 162 Senegal dwellers working at military bases in Dakar. Senegal’s new government has taken a tough stand on the presence of French soldiers.
